Social Distancing with a mission ... This Saturday evening. Come get out of the house safely and enjoy.

Latest Announcements!

Here are just a few of the things that are being worked on for this summer.  We wish to welcome new members, Allison Divan and Beverly Hale.

There are 5 more Saturday workshops on Poured Acrylic.  The first one was a great success.  It was outdoors under the oaks with a breeze.  We had 4 participants and one teacher, Ann-Marie Watkoskey.  Looking forward to next week. Please spread the word.  We have masks and gloves available for those who want them or don’t have their own.

Work in Progress:  We need your input, support, and suggestions on the following events with the purpose to raise awareness and funding for children who are without good meals during the day.

Acrylic Pouring Workshops – Saturday Mornings 10-Noon.

The first workshop last Saturday was a great success.  Being outdoors under the oak trees with a breeze and fan made the experience very enjoyable.  We have more artists stepping forward to do workshops so watch for exciting new art classes. Registration is on-line.

This week:  Call to Artist – the Filthy Mug for Children

Make, decorate and/or donate a unique mug of any kind.  The mugs will be auctioned off at the July Filthy Mug Soiree on July 25th with the funds going to local food providers of children’s meals in need in our community.

July 11th – Meet & Greet on Saturday Evening.  Cool  Beans and the Fort Pierce Art Club are sending out invitations to local politicians, nonprofits, churches, and the community to talk about what we can do to get more healthy meals to the children filling the gap left from not having school breakfast & lunches.

The event will be outside with social distancing.  Individuals wishing to work on this event, please call 772-579-1529 (Jeanne who will be wearing a mask)

July 25 – Filthy Mug Soiree Fundraiser – Evening

The mugs created by artists will be auctioned off at this outside event at Cool Beans.  Individuals wishing to work on this event, please call 772-579-1529 (Jeanne who will be wearing a mask)

August 1 – Sunday – 2 PM – BELATED EGG HUNT

Several hundred eggs will be stuffed with non-candy treats – stickers, fake tattoos, and other items the Club & Cool Beans can find for this unique event for children at Cool Beans.  We will need people to help stuff the eggs and hide the eggs as well as help with the day’s event.  Please email any suggestions to the club’s account.

ART ON THE PORCH:  The Fort Pierce Art Club is going to start up this program this morning with safety precautions as we don’t believe the pandemic is over so there will be small TV tables along with Cool Beans’s tables for people to work at.  We are selling masks at the coffee shop and will bring some more in along with gloves for those who want them.  We are hoping for a small turn out and it will only be in the mornings:  10 to Noon.
ZOOM MEETINGS:  The club will continue with Zoom Meetings only on the 1st and 3rd Monday at 11:30 am and the 1st and 3rd Tuesday of the month at 7:30 pm.  Hope you can join us.  Has anyone tried Gmail’s meeting app?  We’d love your feedback as some people aren’t able to get Zoom to work on their computers.
WORKSHOPS:  The club will be holding “Poured Acrylic Workshops” for 6 weeks.  The first workshop, open to the public, will be on June 20, 2020 from 10 to 1 pm.  Ann-Marie Watkoskey will be conducting the workshops.  She will be showing techniques you can’t find on the Internet.
Jane MacArthur will be offering a workshop on weaving soon.  Look for more details to come.
If you wish to do a workshop, please let the club know via email or phone call with your idea and needs for the workshop.
MEDIA:  The club donated $400 from the “In Her Image 2020” proceeds from the exhibition at the Elliott Museum to the “Inner Truth Project” which offers counseling to people who have and/or are experiencing abuse.  Press releases on both this and the workshops have been going out.  Keep your look out and save the articles for us if you see them.
ART IN COOL BEANS CONTEST:  We need more art for the gallery.  Several pieces were sold last week and we want to brighten up Cool Beans with more art.  As a member, the cost is only $5 for three months.  Prices appear to be in the low $100’s and below. This is understandable as art is an impulse purchase and not a necessity.  If only we sold toilet paper.  I’ve attached a photo of a toilet paper cake done by a friend in Houston for you to enjoy.

We had our very first ZOOM meeting on May 11th at 11:30 am. As a result of being quarantined due to Covid-19 it was nice to connect in this virtual way! Many shared some artwork that they were working on.

Our club loves all of it’s creative members and would like to offer opportunities for them to conduct workshops behind Cool Beans Brew outdoors to provide ample space for health and safety reasons due to Covid-19. It would be a great way to share your talents while generating some funds. You could even go solo and make/create on premise if you would like too. The idea is to offer to our local community creativity and appreciation for the arts while providing engagement. Please contact Jeanne Johansen if you may be interested in doing something like this, 772-579-1529
